From McGarvey, J.W., Sermons delivered in Louisville, Kentucky (Cincinnati: Standard Publishing Company, no date), first published 1894. A sermon delivered by J.W. McGarvey at the Broadway Christian Church, Lexington, KY, 11 June 1893. J.W. (John William) McGarvey (1829-1911) was one of the leading ministers and religious educators of the American Restoration Movement.
In this sermon he seeks to emphasize the seriousness of sin by examining what the Bible teaches about its punishment. McGarvey briefly addresses 5 questions: 1) Is there punishment of sin after death? 2) If so, when does it begin? 3) Is there a final judgment of sin? 4) What punishment follows that judgment? 5) How long will that punishment continue? This sermon was paired with "Sin and its Punishment: Objections Considered," delivered at the evening service on the same date. Recorded by David Russell Hamrick.
